Workplace ESL

DFA’s Workplace ESL program was launched in 2021 in support of our values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Since its launch, 21 employees from Facilities Management have graduated from the program. While the program is open to employees across DFA, participants to date have been from FM. Created in partnership with UC Irvine Division of Continuing Education, the program has also welcomed participants from UC Irvine Student Affairs since 2022.

The program provides Spanish-speaking staff with an opportunity to strengthen their English speaking and listening skills for the workplace. Participants are selected through an application process. The program consists of 2-hour in-person class meetings once a week for 10 weeks during spring and 10 weeks during fall quarters. The curriculum is developed and delivered by UC Irvine Division of Continuing Education.
